TWO of Sydney’s finest up-and-coming acts have announced a national co-headlining tour, which will include a stopover at Bulli’s Heritage Hotel on Saturday, August 1.
FisherKing and Declan Kelly and The Rising Sun are both armed with their new releases and bringing their unique takes on blues and roots to the Illawarra.
Their captivating brand of pop-laden acoustic blues and coastal roots have made for a captivating past 18 months for Sydney quartet FisherKing since forming in March last year.
Their debut single The Search kicked it all off at the end of 2008, receiving widespread airplay across Australia before the band then took out the Triple J Unearthed FUSE Festival Competition in March of this year. Their critically acclaimed self-titled debut EP is in stores now.
Winner of the Blues and Roots Act at the 2008 Music Oz Awards, Declan Kelly is an accomplished musician who has risen through the ranks of the Australian blues and roots circuit.
From playing in a duo called Slim La Beef and The Spare Ribs with Alex Lloyd at the age of just 15, to touring Australia with the Bondi Cigars, Kelly has built a strong reputation as a groove drummer, music maker, recording artist and vocalist.
His list of credits include playing drums and touring Australia and internationally with Michael Franti and Spearhead, Axel Whitehead, Guy Sebastian, Katie Noonan, Alex Lloyd, Paulini, Afro Moses, Jon Stevens and King Tide to name just a few.
