THIS WEEKEND is set to be a big one down at Wollongong City Raceway, Kembla Grange.

Saturday night kart racing will make its debut at the track this week before the inaugural round of the Pro Moto Series on Sunday.

The powered by Honda ProKart Australia Saturday Night Series is a 12-round series for junior and senior drivers competing in every class from Midgets up to Rotax.

“For the spectators the Saturday Night Series also provides plenty of entertainment, as the race format is put into one tight package, where there is non-stop action out on the track,” Wollongong City Raceway event coordinator Ryan Stott said.

The series includes a practice and qualifying session, followed by three heat races, pre-finals and the finals.

Racing will start this Saturday, February 23 at Wollongong City Raceway, Kembla Grange, from 2pm and go on into the night.

On Sunday, the first round of the Pro Moto Series will be held, with all riders of motorcycles under 150cc encouraged to compete.

That round will be the first of ten in the series, with practice and qualifying sessions, followed by three heat races, a pre-final and a winner-takes-all final.

Series organiser and Wollongong City Raceway owner, Tony Pullen, sees the series have the potential to grow from strength to strength.

“There is a lot of potential in the Pro Moto Series, and that is why we have set it up, and it is something that is needed,” Pullen said.

All competitors are required to wear approved safety riding gear.

Competition will start at 9am and end by 5pm – for more information visit www.wollongongcityraceway.com.au or contact the Wollongong City Raceway office on 4260 9333.
