Barnet wins Illawarra singles title

Warilla’s Leone Barnet has won the Illawarra District Singles, played at Windang last week. The semi finals were played in the morning. Leone Barnett (Warilla) defeated Trish Orgill (Warilla) 31-20 the score did not donate the quality of the bowls played. Both players were neck and neck until the last few ends where Leone surged ahead. The other semi was played between Julie Feltham (Dapto Citizens) and Marian Jordan (Wiseman Park Wollongong City) July Feltham defeated Marian Jordan 31-24 also a close game until the last few ends. The final between Leone Barnet and Julie Feltham was played in the afternoon with Leone defeating Julie 31-16. Both ladies were feeling the effects of playing two games a day for the last week, with the afternoon games being played in quite cold conditions.
