Australia Day on the lake

ILLAWARRA Yacht Club on the northern shore of Lake Illawarra is hosting a regatta to celebrate Australia Day.
Racing will start at 12:30 in six divisions on three courses.
Senior dinghy, including the 16 Skiff fleet and trailable yacht classes will sail to all corners of Lake Illawarra in a round the lake passage race which will provide a spectacular procession of sail from all vantage points on the lake perimeter.
The junior fleet mainly of top rated Flying Ants will do a shorter lake course whilst the trainers will participate in Kully Bay. Entry fees are $15 ?trailable yachts and $5 other classes.
The Australia Day Regatta will enable IYC and adjacent clubs to enter the complete range of sailing craft and is sponsored by the Lake Illawarra Authority.
Division winners will be presented with and have their names engraved on the Doug Prosser perpetual trophy.
Participation in the event is encouraged for all sailors and organisers anticipate a fleet in excess of 50 craft
This regatta is registered as a satellite event of the large regatta on Sydney Harbour and is in its 171st year, making it the longest continuously run regatta in the world.
