BERKELEY Eagles gained a measure of revenge loss earlier this year against the Bulli Pirates with an 8-7 win at Dalton Park.

That result reversed the Eagles' loss by the same score in a corresponding encounter earlier in 2007.

The Pirates failed to capitalise on their 14-8 advantage in safe hits.

Berkeley led 4-2 after three innings before the Pirates rallied with four in the fourth for a 6-4 lead.

Berkeley drew level in the bottom of the sixth and had a gold-plated chance to take the lead after in the eighth when leadoff hitter Sam Thornton was walked and Glen Vickers made base on an error.

Michael Kuit's sacrifice bunt advanced the runners before Thornton scored on Chad Blanch's sacrifice fly and pinch runner Aaron Tritton scored on a wild pitch, handing the Eagles an 8-6 lead.

The Pirates scored a run in the ninth inning but couldn't find an equaliser.

Kuit was the Eagles' best with 2 from 3 while Stuart Thompson hit 2 from 4.

In the other IBL match Wests Cardinals maintained their unbeaten record with a 4-1 win over Kiama Braves at Cringila Park.

Cardinals scored one run in the first after Josh Dean singled and was driven in on Jeff Trembearth's one-out hit.

The 1-0 score held until the sixth when the Braves tied the game on the combination of Stuart Masters' two out single and Sneddon's RBI hit.

Wests responded in the bottom of the inning when Paul Trembearth's two out triple added one run.

Kiama were not able to add to their score and Cardinals secured the game with run batted in by Ben Warner and Jeff Trembearth.

Wests Cardinals outhit the Braves 7-4, Jeff Trembearth batting 3 from 4 and Josh Dean 2 from 3.

Saturday will see Dapto Chiefs playing Wests Cardinals at Hector Harvey Reserve, and Kiama Braves playing Berkeley Eagles at Ganisborough Reserve.

Bulli have the first grade bye.
