A VERY rare event in cricket occurred on Sunday as Shellharbour and The Rail tied for First-innings points in an extremely tense Second-Grade encounter.
After being bowled out for 82, Shellharbour had the visitors in trouble at 5 for 7 before the Razorbacks fought back to force an amazing tie.
Chris Shelton was the chief destroyer for the Harbour taking 5 wickets, while Scott Ulcigrais half-century saved the day for The Rail.
It wasnt as good news for Shellharbour Second Grade on Saturday as they went down in their one-day clash with Oak Flats by 8 wickets.
Unfortunately, the news was even worse in First Grade, with the Harbour suffering a nine wicket defeat at the hands of a strong Oak Flats outfit.
Chris Halloran provided some resistance at first drop, scoring 26 before Jack Bennett ripped through Shellharbour, taking 6 for 16.
In Third Grade, Shellharbour went down in another tight encounter with the Rail.
After making 107, the Harbour had The Rail in trouble before the Razorbacks declared their first innings at 9 for 121 chasing outright points.
In the second dig, Matt Olssons 38 and Peter Knezevics 21 helped Shellharbour reach 103.
It wasnt enough however as the Razorbacks claimed outright points with 4 wickets in hand.
A four wicket loss was also the result for Shellharbour Fourth Grade in their one-day encounter with Oak Flats.
Shellharbour made a very respectable 221, thanks largely to Paul Atkins who made 58.
Atkins was well supported by Levi Ayuso with 33 and Phil Russell with 32.
The Rats showed a bit of toughness though and made it home with four wickets in hand.
In Fifth Grade, Shellharbour Blue hung on to defeat Shellharbour White, despite the return of the prodigal son -Funky D- Daniel Shaw.
Batting first, the Blues made 6 for 177 with Sam Troutman scoring 36 and Nathan Ackroyd making an unbeaten 30.
Shellharbour White fought hard though and there were some nervous moments for the Blues as a last wicket partnership between Funky D (47) and Nathan Couchman (12*) got the Whites within striking distance, before the Funky One was finally dismissed just three short of a half-century.
