AFTER a successful venture to Adelaide for the National Tae Kwon Do Championships, the South Coast Team readied themselves for the Common Tae Kwon Do Union Championships in Brisbane.

Team members were fighting fit as they took out Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.

Kylie Jackson was the standout winning the senior black belt division for the 2nd consecutive year running, an awesome achievement given the level of competition.

Mitchell Grace drew a current National Team Player and easily defeated him 7-1 in an impressive display.

He then went on to draw another National Team member and went down by a point, finishing with a Bronze medal.

While new to the sport Sheree Mason remained undefeated, bringing home Gold in her division.

Caitlin Staneff also secured a Gold after a tough match with a much bigger opponent.

Other members to win medals were Jarrod Marshall - Bronze, Courtney Staneff - Bronze (injured), and Kate McAdam - Bronze.

At the Commonwealth Championship both Mile Banda and Melissa Hampton. had performance that while not to PB, were enough to win Bronze medals, while Kylie Jackson drew a Malaysian fighter who had fought at the Athens Olympics. Kylie started strong but the Malaysian proved too strong ruling Kylie out of medal contention.

The South Coast Team are now regrouping as they prepare to take the favourite tag into the NSW Championships to be held in a few weeks time.
