A major link will join the new boat harbour, marina and Shellharbour City.
A MAJOR link road connecting the future Shell Cove Marina precinct to the city's existing infrastructure has gone on public exhibition as Shellharbour City Council prepares to consider the proposal.
Public comment is now being sought on the "Harbour Boulevarde" proposal, a road that will directly connect Shell Cove, the Boatharbour, Marina and Shellharbour Village with the rest of the City as well as provide future access to Bass Point.
The finalisation of the "Harbour Boulevarde" Development Application is the next phase of progress for the $1.5 billion Shell Cove Project, a partnership between Shellharbour Council and Australand.
Australand Project Director, Glenn Colquhoun said the small stretch of road was a major cog in the wheel.
"After many years of planning and extensive community consultation all aspects of the project are taking shape nicely and it's a very exciting time, " said Mr Colquhoun.
Construction of Harbour Boulevarde will require the demolition and relocation of the existing Shellharbour Bowling Club.
A Development Application for a new club and facilities will be lodged with Council within the next month.
Construction on the new road will not begin until the relocation of Shellharbour Bowling Club is complete in order to minimise inconvenience to the club.
Council's General Manager Brian Weir said he was very happy with the progress of the Shell Cove project to date and council is now encouraging the community to look at the Harbour Boulevarde proposal and submit their comments.
Council staff will carry out the assessment and external consultants will independently review the process.
Documents and plans relating to the DA are now available for inspection on Level 1 at Council's Administration centre, Lamerton House.
Written submissions on the proposal will be accepted until Thursday 21 June.
