Do you think the Illawarra business community should have been more supportive of the Albion Park QantasLink service, which has just shut down?

Labor candidate for Shellharbour Lylea McMahon discusses the much needed Fowlers Road Bridge extension with a concerned resident at the level crossing at Bong Bong Road which is currently the only access in and out of Horsley.

LABOR candidate for Shellharbour, Lylea McMahon launched a petition last Friday for the building of the Fowlers Road Bridge extension in Dapto, saying the petition would allow locals a direct say in telling Wollongong City Council how they felt about building this vital bridge.

I became aware of this issue after door knocking over 1000 houses in West Dapto, Ms McMahon said.

Local residents made it very clear to me just how strongly they feel about this project and I have started this campaign on their behalf.

I am taking up the fight and calling on Wollongong City Council and the lord Mayor to build the Fowlers Road Bridge extension now.

To continue to develop West Dapto without the bridge doesnt make any sense.

Wollongong City Council receives Section 94 funds from the developers of West Dapto and those funds need to spent on the Bridge extension.

Ms McMahon said it was high time Wollongong City Council stopped treating the residents of West Dapto like second class citizens.

The Council and the Lord Mayor cant ignore this issue, we need the work to begin immediately, she said.

Ms McMahon urged anyone interested in signing the petition to contact her on 0419 418 671.
