A CENTURY by Beau Armstrong has given Oak Flats a big advantage heading into day two of their South Coast Junior cricket under 16A match with Kiama. Armstrong slammed an unbeaten 122 as the Rats reached 9/205 at stumps on day one. Meanwhile, Liam Mann hammered 86 to put The Rail’s under 16B in control against Keira. The Razorbulls tallied 169 while Keira will resume on Saturday at 1/14. Shellharbour City’s under 16Bs enjoyed a run feast as they racked up 7/277, despite the best efforts of Lake Illawarra bowlers Shane Faricy (3/40) and Matt Arblaster (3/48). In the under 14As, Shellharbour (2/25) will resume needing 91 runs with eight wickets in hand when their clash with Dapto Gold (116) resumes on Saturday. Balgownie will defend 169 when their clash with Kiama resumes on Saturday, while Albion Park (2/55) are in the box seat for first innings points against Corrimal (89). A haul of 4/57 by Warilla’s Marcus Teixeira wasn’t enough to stop Dapto Blue from amassing 8/230. In the under 14Bs, Albion Park (5/194) has secured first innings points against Shellharbour White (86). In the under 12As, Kiama (1/75) scored a nine-wicket win over The Rail thanks to a haul of 4/2 from Jake Ashley, while Shellharbour Blue scored a close win over Shellharbour White. In the under 12Bs, Jamberoo scored a 50-run win over rivals Gerringong. Batting first, Jamberoo hammered 6/128, led by 33 not out from Shane Grant and 24 by Kaleb Riddington. Jamberoo then bundled Gerringong out for 78, led by 2/1 from Cody McParland and 2/8 from Ryley Edwards.
Albion Park Gold defeated Lake Illawarra by five wickets in the round’s remaining match. Albion Park (4/134) also scored a hard-fought win over Shellharbour White in the under 10As. Meanwhile, it was a mixed weekend for South Coast Junior Cricket’s representative teams. Under 16 Gold scored a handy win over Shoalhaven while the under 14s were thumped by Highlands and the under 12s lost to Shoalhaven.
