Mt Warrigal resident, Doris Nelson celebrating her 100th birthday in style last Sunday.
LONG time Mt Warrigal resident, DORIS Nelson, has just turned 100 years old and last week had the mother of all birthdays with special messages from the Queen, the Governor General, the Prime Minister John Howard, Federal MP Jenny George, Member for Illawarra Marianne Saliba and a large bunch of flowers delivered personally to her home in Mt Warrigal by Shellharbour City Mayor Cr David Hamilton.
Not to be outdone, Doris family threw a huge surprise 100th birthday celebration lunch at Tangs Chinese Restaurant in Shellharbour Village last Sunday with cousins, nieces, children, grand children and more converging on the restaurant from as far and wide as Oberon, Canberra, Melbourne, Albury and Queensland.
Flowers, cards and telegrams also arrived from Germany and New Zealand.
In all, 5 generations were represented at the birthday lunch, with an age range from 6 months old to Doris 100 years.
Doris was visibly overwhelmed on entering the restaurant and being greeted by a resounding Happy Birthday to You from all in attendance, and camera flashes going off every few seconds.
Amidst a smile that went from ear to ear for a large part of the day, Doris was heard to say, Ill never forget my 100th birthday!
