The convenor of a Windang residents’ group has criticised Wollongong Council for not consulting the community about a development application for a three-storey commercial and retail building on Windang Road.

For Albion Park Rail resident Anne Murray, life took a drastic turn when her 15-year-old son, Joseph, suffered brain damage as the result of a heart attack.

“Corruption does not stop at the Windang Bridge,” Paul Matters, spokesperson for the community action group, Wollongong Against Corruption said last week after hosting a public meeting in Wollongong Town Hall.

While the weekend search and rescue operation to recover two local fishermen cost over $100,000, no one can put a cost on the lives saved as a result.
